Positive Touch 2 - One Day Workshop
Positive Touch 2 is the second of the Introductory Courses to Massage held at the Positive Health School of Massage and Aromatherapy. You will need to have completed the Positive Touch 1 course before attending this workshop.
The aim of this course is to introduce you to massage techniques that are of benefit for relaxing muscles and helping with stress management. It is an introductory course only, and afterwards you should be competent enough to massage friends and family members for relaxation purposes - to release the three Ts – tension, tightness and toxins. It will not equip you to practice as a massage therapist for gain. There are Diploma Courses for that.
What you will learn on the day:
Review the benefits of massage
Review the contra-indications to massage
Swedish Massage techniques for the front of the body including the neck, head, face, abdomen, front of the legs and feet.
The day will be broken into 4 quarters, with 2 breaks for tea and 1 for lunch.
At the end of the day you should be able to:
List 5 contraindications to massage
Give a shoulder and neck massage using oil
Give an abdomen massage using oil
Give a front of the leg massage using oil
Give a foot massage using oil or powder
Time: 09H30 – 17H00
Venue: Sulis Meadows, Bath (see map)
NEXT COURSE DATE: SUNDAY 15th NOVEMBER 2015
Class size: Max. 12 students. You will work in pairs on massage tables and on mats on the floor. You are encouraged to bring along a friend/husband/wife/partner. However, we will have people with whom you can work if you come on your own and you will never feel awkward – our course is designed using Accelerated Learning techniques and your participation makes it enjoyable for all. After already learning the techniques for the back of the body, with this course under your belt, you are going to be ready for a full body massage of your family members and friends!
To bring: Pad and pencil, two bath sheets and lunch. Please wear loose, old clothes. No tight jeans or flowing skirts. Please cut your nails short. If your hair is long, please bring something with which to tie it back.
Consumables such as oils for massage, massage tables, tea and coffee and a manual of the techniques you will learn, to take away with you, will be provided. A certificate of attendance will be handed out.
TUTOR: Sandra Byrne is your tutor for massage.
