Winter is on  its way.....ugh!  Well, lets's not get ahead of ourselves...it is only Autumn after all and isn't Autumn just such a lovely season in the UK?   The leaves are turning, the air is sharper, snuggling under a duvet is so much more fun than in summer......

So, why not learn a new skill that can be used to benefit family and friends and cheer them up during the long winter months?  Learn how to  massage at The Positive Health Academy  on November 1st and November 15th.  After completing these two one day workshops you will be able to give a full body massage and you will feel EPIC!

When I first started teaching massage I never failed to be amazed at how quickly the students progressed. OK, this was over a 10 month diploma course. The first day was always a nervous one (for everybody) and by the end of the course, everyone was so relaxed (and it DID have something to do with the regular massages students were giving and receiving!)  and SO technically good.  There was as sea change in their confidence and their ability.

So the one day workshops are designed to give you a taste of what an amazing technique, massage is, to have at your fingertips (excuse the pun!).   And yes, you may hunger for more and WOULD want to do  a diploma course and maybe change your career path completely, but even  just doing the one-day workshops, you will be amazed at how quickly you pick up the techniques and,  if you put them into practice, how very good you  can become at this skill.   Practice, practice, practice, makes perfect.

I look forward to seeing you at a Positive Touch course!  Check out the dates on the course pages.

Grief!  How time flies!  I meant to post every day after I set up the new website and look at this - there is already a week gone by.

If anyone is interested in doing any of the courses itemised under the Courses tab, please send us an email, to register your interest and when we have enough people to start a course, we will set one up and advise of dates.  That's if we don't put dates on the site first.  So please keep an eye on this website.

pOSITIVE HEALTH IS GOING LIVE!

Today is an exciting day for me. For two reasons, no THREE!  Woohoo!

First, after months of struggling to get my website updated through various web developers, courses posted (and, frankly, getting bottoms on seats!), I have gone the self-design route so that I can content-manage my site and let everyone know dates and what is being offered in the way of courses etc.  And here it is, in the process of being updated through Weebly, by ME!  I am so impressed with me!  it is in it's infancy, this website, but it will improve.

Secondly, in a moment of synchronicty, something has come up and I hope to join forces with an amazing Reflexologist, who will provide reflexology workshops to add to the mix of workshops we offer. I'll keep you posted on this one.

And thirdly, I am starting teaching massage again AND doing my own private Aromatherapy treatment sessions. This has been after a lay-off with broken limbs and businesses for whom I worked closing down.....etc. etc.  so it is very exciting!  I love teaching massage.  My first workshop is in August, so if there is anybody out there who would like to do a basic massage course over two days in August, please contact me at sandra@positivehealthacademy.com as soon as possible and I'll tell you what is happening and how you can book, the cost etc.

Speak soon!

About Massage

Massage has been around for centuries. We all know that.  And yet it is experiencing a resurgence in the world today, as we struggle to take more control of our health.

A physician must be experienced in many things but also assuredly in rubbing

Hippocrates (380 B.C.)

Massage eliminates the waste products of nutrition and the poisons of fatigue

                            Galen (201 A.D.)

There is a deep history to the art (and science) of massage. From these great doctors and before, it has had an up and down path to the modern day.  And today, the benefits are known, the word is spreading, massage does not have the stigma it once had, when it all but died out in some cultures. In the eastern cultures massage will always be there, because it forms part of their belief system, their values, their very being.

So now, West meets East and the western world embraces many different massage modalities.  All have their ‘claim to fame’, but it is the principle of moving muscle over underlying structures like bones, other muscles, tendons, that is known as Swedish Massage, that a great many other modalities incorporate in their techniques. This technique speeds up circulation, releases toxins, eases tightness, tones and invigorates as well as relaxes the busy mind and body.  And that is not all……

Rubbing can bind a joint that is too loose and loosen a joint that is too rigid

Hippocrates (380 B.C.)

There is that famous man again, talking in scientific terms about just one benefit of massage.  And so long ago, he knew this.  Today, physiotherapists and sports massage therapists have taken this even further.  Our athletes know the benefits of massage to help them attain peak performance, or to get them quickly back on the sports field when they have been injured.

Early morning stroking with the palm of the hand, after a night's sleep, when the blood is rested and the tempers relaxed, protects against colds, keeps the organs supple and prevents minor ailments

Translated from the  Cong-fu of  the Tao Tse
(Chinese medicine practised circa 3000 B.C.)

Mother’s instinctively know this, don’t they?  ‘Let Mommy rub it better’.  There’s more……..

We touch heaven when we lay our hands on a human body

Novalis  (1772)

Now we have the spiritual side of man (and woman) involved!  And…..

The greatest sense in our body is our touch sense……..we feel, we love, we hate, are touchy and are touched, through the touch corpuscles of our skin

J Lionel Tayler (1921)

That is what massage is all about! Positive Touch is essential for Health.

Did you know that the FIRST sense that a baby develops in the womb is its sense of touch?
