There is a deep history to the art (and science) of massage. From these great doctors and before, it has had an up and down path to the modern day. And today, the benefits are known, the word is spreading, massage does not have the stigma it once had, when it all but died out in some cultures. In the eastern cultures massage will always be there, because it forms part of their belief system, their values, their very being.
So now, West meets East and the western world embraces many different massage modalities. All have their ‘claim to fame’, but it is the principle of moving muscle over underlying structures like bones, other muscles, tendons, that is known as Swedish Massage, that a great many other modalities incorporate in their techniques. This technique speeds up circulation, releases toxins, eases tightness, tones and invigorates as well as relaxes the busy mind and body. And that is not all……

Today, physiotherapists and sports massage therapists have taken this even further. Our athletes know the benefits of massage to help them attain peak performance, or to get them quickly back on the sports field when they have been injured.
